There are a few things you can always count on. Like peanut butter and jelly tasting good together or wanting to pet every dog that walks by. Likewise, there are a few things that are almost guaranteed to happen at every single local show — good and bad.
When you’ve played the circuit enough times, they come to be commonplace, and, in some weird way, there’s a bit of comfort and humor in that. How many of these six occurrences have you experienced in the last year?

With bands that gain a large amount of success, it's actually fairly common that their initial popularity came from somewhere outside of their hometown. For this reason, I think it's important to start breaking out of your local scene as soon as you feel ready. If you're new to booking and promoting a band, however, this can be very overwhelming.
