Australia Day Honours 2020

Dr Shane Huntington was awarded the Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia. Dr Shane has presented the Einstein A Go-Go, show in Melbourne’s Triple R since 1993.
Community broadcasters have once again featured strongly in the Governor General's Australia Day Honours List, in addition to various other local community awards announced on 26 January 2020. Recipients come from right across the country and from all walks of life. While some well-known people receive awards, many more are known only to those they help and serve day-in-day-out. All recipients are worthy of recognition and celebration. Receiving an Award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of community radio staff, and the important role that community radio plays in connecting communities. See the list of recipients on our website.

Going above and beyond in times of emergencies

Throughout the recent bushfire crisis and in the aftermath, community radio has remained a vital source of local emergency information and space for community connection. The CBAA has reached out to almost 80 community radio stations in bushfire affected regions, and have heard firsthand how the fires have affected our stations and the volunteers that support them, and about the number of ways stations are serving communities by sharing local information and providing a medium for connection and resilience. Here are just a handful of those stories.

Music moving the CBAA Amrap charts

# Dads Freedom Fighter
#1 Dads is the solo project of Melbourne based musician Tom Iansek, whose latest release Freedom Fighter is the first taste of the forthcoming album Golden Repair. Freedom Fighter is perfect example of Iansek’s knack for melding introspective musings and indie-pop and has debuted in second place on the Metro Chart this week
Leading the way on the Regional Chart is Melbourne’s Kingswood, kicking off 2020 with the announcement of their long awaited third studio album Juveniles with a new single, the intoxicating Bittersweet. which went straight to number one this week. For the full story on Amrap's regional and metro charts visit this week's update!

Sarantos - Cross That line

View this in your browser

My new music video for
“Cross That line" is released
worldwide right now!

Have you ever been in love with your best friend? Or someone you’ve known for a long time? Someone you’re just so comfortable with? Sometimes people just fit.

This song tells that story. It’s the story of two close friends who want to be more than friends. They want to be lovers. They want to cross that line. The thought's crossed both their minds, probably a few hundred million times. They want to take the leap but they are nervous.

Interesting tidbit about this song - I first wrote it watching NBC’s Friends. I, like everyone else alive back then, wanted Ross & Rachel to be more than friends. I wanted them to cross that line!

Have you ever been in a similar situation?

For this music video, I decided to focus on how hard it is to be in love with your best friend. You’re the perfect fit but crossing that line might mean ruining your friendship forever!

See if you can find all the references to NBC’s Friends. It was one of my favorite all time sitcoms and the inspiration to this song…

Check out my brand new complete book “Happy New year” (last fiction/fantasy book from the trilogy) released worldwide right now!
