Mike Field

promo packshot
Artist: Mike Field
Title: True Stories
Label: Indie
Genre: Ska/Punk/Reggae

“this is surprisingly good! .....love it !!......listening to it again!”
DJ Sharkey: Mundial Roots N Culture Worldwide Radio - Netherlands

“I love the raw old school sound to this disc. a great melding of ska and punk with a touch of a big band vibe”.
- Geoff Melton: The Music Korner Magazine

“This little production made my day.. Fresh huge sound in a good old school style. Good lyrics, awesome voice and musicians who know how to play their instruments. Well Done! Thanks for the music”.
- Sebastian: Well Done Music - Berlin, Germany

“Awesome fresh Ska vibes!!! <3 Irie ! Dig This lots!”
- L4P. / TactiQal: RadioIndustrie 101.65 FM - Zug, Switzerland

Mike Field’s fourth offering True Stories, is a delightful departure from his previous, highly acclaimed albums: it already won the 2018 Independent Music Award (IMA) for Music Producer and the Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Vocals;; Attic Jump, which topped Canadian and international charts plus earned two Independent Music Award (IMA) nominations;; Ashes;; and sophomore album Rush Mode, which won five Aurora Awards, two Independent Music Video Awards, and was nominated for two IMAs.

The opening track "Mechanic," perks up one’s ears immediately as Field rocks harder than anything he's ever done, on this rollicking punk/ska/jazz tune about a space mechanic who fixes rockets. High-energy trumpet soars and raw, passionate vocals kick butt. "The Hotel By The Mansion" is a circus calliope gone mad. This song is aptly fueled by Field's quick-fire vocals and fittingly so, as this klezmer-tinged tune is about a woman with fire in her hair. As Field playfully sings, "What do ya do with a hot hairdo? You charge admission of a dollar or two."

The Incurables

Founded in Westland, MI by lifelong friends that met in kindergarten, Ray Lawson (Bass guitar and vocals) and Pat Kelly (Lead guitar and vocals), the band found its heart and soul when they were joined in the mid-eighties by cousin Darrin Lawson (drums and vocals) and Dennis Pepperack (guitar and vocals).

Truly a band of brothers in every sense, they continue to rock with their original members decades later.

Growing up listening to bad AM radio, The Incurables managed to find influences from the groups of the sixties British Invasion and psychedelic scene as well as the seventies and eighties sounds coming from New York's CBGB.

Watching them onstage you can't help but enjoy yourself knowing that they are not just there to perform or do a job but honestly having fun and loving the music. Their energy is infectious and clearly incurable.
